An Integrated Framework to Attain Transparency and Control While Managing Globally Distributed Projects

With ever increasing complexity, process compliance requirements, safety norms, international regulations and standards compliance requirements, it has become more and more complicated to estimate, monitor, control and manage globally distributed projects. A project lead or a project manager, managing a globally distributed project, needs to refer to a number of artifacts at a time and at the same time needs to control and monitor various parameters of the project to be aware of the current activities at different sites. In this paper, we propose an automated framework, which intelligently links different controlling factors, parameters, life-cycle artifacts and standards, which helps the project leader or a manager to manage the projects at an optimal scope, schedule, and budget, yet maintaining high quality standards. Effect of incorporating such a framework is described based on observations from a live project.
